ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT AND WASTE MANAGEMENT is designed to provide an overview of the environmental impact resulting from oil and fat industry with particular emphasis on palm oil production beginning from the processing of oil and fat to the production of the final product. It also discusses major processes and facilities as they are related to waste generation and control. This course addresses primarily waste water aspects of oil and fat industry, and briefly, air and solid waste aspects. Other topics include the National Environmental Policy Act and Regulation -its implication and implementation, risk analysis and risk management to overcome problems related to waste management for the purpose of sustainability.
